1
Choose opposite ends of the room to create two zones---one for sleeping and one for working. If the room is a decent size, it will be easier to keep the two functions separate. Keeping the office and bedroom zones distinct is important, especially mentally; otherwise you run the risk of never escaping your work. At the end of your workday, you need a respite. It's hard to relax if you can see tomorrow's work looming ahead of you, so declutter as much as possible and don't industrialize the room too much.

2
Consider locating your office on one wall, separating the office zone from the rest of the space with a wall divider, or even closing it off completely with built-in cabinetry or a single computer armoire that blends in with your bedroom furniture. You could even commandeer a closet if you have one large enough and if you lack space in the rest of the room.

Within your office zone, you'll need space for the computer, room to write, a spot for files and reference materials, and office supplies. Keep the items you need to use every day in close reach and contain the rest in office furniture (such as file cabinets and desk drawers) to keep clutter to a minimum.

To combat the effects of the office intrusion, make the bedroom zone more relaxing than you normally would. Add softness and luxury with layers of pillows, throws and aromatherapy candles.
