Instructions

    • 1

Wash all of the parts of your bamboo steamer with hot, soapy water. Rinse well but do not allow the steamer to sit in water.

    • 2

Place the bamboo steamer in a wok or saute pan and add water to below the bottom level of the steamer.

    • 3

Remove the steamer and place the wok or saute pan over high heat to bring the water to a boil.

    • 4

Place the food onto the bamboo steamer (at each level if desired). For easier cleaning, line each of the layers with a round of parchment paper, lettuce leaves, banana leaves, corn husks or a ceramic plate and place the food on top. Ensure that air still can circulate around the lining material.

    • 5

Set the bamboo steamer into the boiling water and steam the food for the time prescribed in the recipe.

    • 6

Remove the cooked food from the steamer and allow the bamboo to cool.

    • 7

Wash in soap and water and air dry before storing to prevent mold formation.
