      Prepare the hot towel by soaking it in water, squeezing out excess water and then heating the towel in the microwave.

      Check the towel temperature. Towels that are too hot should be allowed to cool to a comfortabe temperature, ideally between 106 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit, before being placed on your skin.

      Find a comfortable reclining chair, chaise lounge, sofa or bed and position a pillow behind your head. Lean your head back on the pillow.

      Apply the hot towel to your face with your eyes closed.

      Allow the towel to remain on your face until the towel has cooled. Remove towel. Follow the hot towel treatment with a soothing, cooling lotion or night cream.

Tips & Warnings

  • For an aromatherapy treatment, mix one-half cup of dried lavender buds into 2 to 3 cups of water, and boil. Steep the towel in the lavender water and gently wring out excess water before applying to your face.

  • Listen to soothing music or nature sounds during this treatment.

  • Check the temperature of the hot towel before applying it to your face to make sure you will not scald your skin.
