Sealing your food in a bag is one of the best ways to preserve it and extend your food's shelf life. One way to seal and preserve your food is to use a sealer such as a FoodSaver sealer. Instructions

    • 1

      Open your FoodSaver sealer bag and place the food you want to seal inside. Make sure that the food does not reach the green dot on the bag. Close and seal the bag as tightly as you can.

      Place the bag inside the vacuum part of your FoodSaver. Line the bag up so that the green dot is on top, and is the part of the bag inside the vacuum.

      Press the vacuum button on top of your FoodSaver device. Wait for the FoodSaver to turn off before removing the bag.

      Store the sealed bag for later use.

Tips & Warnings

  • As a general rule, if the food comes from someplace cold, such as a refrigerator or a freezer, it should be placed back there when sealed.

  • Always use the side of the bag that is not already sealed to insert food. Have the vacuum seal that part of the bag.

  • Wait 20 seconds after sealing your bag before sealing another FoodSaver bag, or you will melt the rubber sealer.
