The PlayStation Portable is a handheld gaming device that has many features. One of the most useful functions of the PSP is its ability to double as an MP3 player. A memory stick can be purchased separately for the system that allows users to save music and videos to be played back on the device. Installing music to the PSP is a simple process; however, files need to be saved in the proper location or you won't be able to access the music.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • USB cord
  • PSP
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Connect your PSP to your computer by using a USB cord. Plug the small end of the cord into the top of the PSP and attach the opposite end to your computer's USB slot. Scroll through the "Settings" menu on your PSP's desktop and click on the "USB Connection" icon.

  2. Step 2

Wait for the PSP window to open on your computer's desktop. Scroll through the list of options in the window and select "Open to view all files." Double-click the "PSP" folder and then the "MUSIC" folder from the window that opens. Drag all of the music files you want to play through your PSP into the "MUSIC" folder. Then exit out of all the open windows.

  3. Step 3

Disconnect your PSP safely from your computer by right-clicking the green check mark icon from the desktop tray at the bottom right corner of your computer screen. Click "Stop" and then "Song PSP" from the list of options that appear. Upon doing this a message will appear that tells you it is now safe to disconnect the external device. You may then click the "O" button on your PSP to exit out of the "USB Connection" mode. Unplug the USB cord from both the PSP and your computer.
