Most people make pancakes in the traditional circle shape. Others will make animal shapes or letters with a spoon and a steady hand. No longer do you have to stick with just basic shapes for your pancakes. You can purchase pancake molds in just about any shape and a variety of sizes. Pancake molds are usually made from metal with a handle on the side for you to hold on to. The mold will be hollow in the center and the metal shaped like any given object.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pancake batter
  • Oil
  • Pancake mold
  • Ladle
  • Flat grill or skillet
  • Spatula
  1. Step 1

Oil or grease your griddle (or skillet) and heat it to between 300 and 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, it is very important to grease the inside of the mold with oil or butter.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your batter as you normally would.

  3. Step 3

Set the pancake mold onto your griddle. Using a flat griddle instead of a frying pan, will help to keep your pancake batter from sliding underneath the mold.

  4. Step 4

Scoop up a ladle full of pancake batter and pour directly into the center of your pancake mold. Do not fill completely to the top, otherwise they may come out too heavy.

  5. Step 5

Hold the mold by the handle until the bottom of the pancake starts to fluff. Depending on the size of your mold, it should only take about a minute and a half before you can flip your pancake.

  6. Step 6

Remove the mold by pulling up on the handle. Go slow so as not to break the pancake.

  7. Step 7

Flip the pancake and cook until the pancake is done.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can purchase pre-made pancake batter mixture from your local grocery store. All you need to do is add water and mix.
