How to Install Roof Rack Rails on a Full Size Blazer

Vehicle roof racks are really convenient to have, adding an extra level of utility to your vehicle. They allow you to transport things you might not otherwise be able to, such as bicycles. The full-size Chevrolet Blazer SUV came with holes for the roof rack, but not every model was equipped with them. Instructions

    • 1

Place the stepladder on the side of the vehicle so that you can see and access the roof of the vehicle.

    • 2

Place the first side rail of the roof rack onto the roof. There are protective panels over the factory roof rack holes that you can remove by hand, allowing you to set the rack onto the roof.

    • 3

Bolt the roof rack onto the roof using the 1/4-inch ratchet, torx-head sockets and the factory hardware.

    • 4

Repeat the process with the other side of the roof rack.

    • 5

Move the stepladder to the rear of the vehicle, and push the center rails for the roof rack onto the tracks on either side. There is a handle on each side that you can open to allow the rails to slide, which makes the mounting process easier.

    • 6

Tighten down the roof rack center rails with your hands once the location is where you'd like it to be.
