Wax can build up and be an unsightly, irritating substance in the ear. Some cleaning promotes ear health in children. With mineral oil as a softener, you can extract wax from the ear of a child painlessly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mineral oil
  • Dropper
  • Room-temperature water
  • Rubber ear syringe
  1. Step 1

Place mineral oil in a dropper, and put five drops of the oil in the child's ear.

  2. Step 2

Wait two hours for the wax to soften for easy extraction.

  3. Step 3

Flush the ear out with room-temperature water that has been placed in the rubber ear syringe. To do this, tilt the child's head and use the syringe to squirt the water into the ear and then let the water run out.

  4. Step 4

Inspect the water that comes out of the ear until runs clear. If it doesn't run clear, flush again. The wax has been completely extracted when the water runs clear.
