How to Wear Crystals
Crystals are beautiful, natural treasures. It takes thousands of years for a crystal to form. There are many varieties of crystal, and quartz is one of them. Quartz crystals are commonly used in jewelry making. They vary in color: Purple is Amethyst, pink is Rose quartz, brown is Smokey quartz. Each color of quartz crystal is unique and said to have special metaphysical healing powers. For this reason, many wear crystals for healing and protection.

1
Choose your stones. Decide which colors of crystal you want to use. Choose stones that are 1/2-inch thick by 1/2-inch long or larger.
-
2
Decide which end of the crystal you want to be the top end as it hangs as a necklace. Place the crystal, top side up, in your small table-mounted wood vice. Make sure the vice is lightly padded so the crystal does not get damaged.

Put on eye protection. Use a cordless drill prepared with a 6 mm to 8 mm carbide-tipped drill bit. Hold the drill directly above the top of the crystal. Make sure it is straight. Lower the tip of the bit to the direct center of the top of the stone. Apply slight downward pressure and begin to drill. Increase the drill's speed and the amount pressure you are applying. Drill into the top of the crystal 1/4 inch. Blow away any dust particles that are on the crystal. Remove the crystal from the vice.

Use jewelry adhesive and a 6 mm to 8 mm bead cap. The bead cap you use should have the end that sticks into the crystal on the bottom and a built-in jump ring on the other end. Apply a small amount of jewelry adhesive to the end of the bead cap that is 6 mm to 8 mm wide, and about 1/4-inch long. Apply glue to the underside of the bead cap. Insert the end into the hole you drilled in the top of the crystal. Twist it down in tightly. Allow to dry 1 hour.

Open a jump ring. Insert the jump ring through the ring on the end of the bead cap. You have made a crystal charm. Cut the necklace chain to your desired length. Insert jump rings through each end of the chain. Add a clasp end to each end by placing it on the jump ring. Close both jumps rings. Make sure the clasp works. Add your charm. Now your crystal is wearable as a charm on a necklace.
