This is a simple, iconic space ship, appropriate for drawing cartoons and comics. The term "space ship" is not an official designation of a type of space craft. However, it is an often replicated form of space ships, drawn by comic book designers and children everywhere. The iconic ship includes a long tube-shaped rocket body, with rocket power coming out the back, and fins on the side.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  1. Step 1

Draw a rectangle, more tall than wide.

  2. Step 2

Draw a triangle at the top of the rectangle, with the base of the rectangle resting on the top of the rectangle. These two shapes together make the body of the space ship.

  3. Step 3

Draw a line curving out and down from the side of the rectangle, near the bottom. Stop at a point just beyond the bottom of the rectangle, double back and draw a line curving back in and up, to the side of the rectangle, forming a fin-shape.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the drawing made in step 3, on the other side of the rectangle.

  5. Step 5

Draw two trapezoids, evenly spaced, protruding from the bottom of the body of the space ship. The sides of the trapezoids should be angled inward slightly. These represent the output for the rocket-power. There will be flames pouring out from them, pushing the spaceship through space.

  6. Step 6

Draw a curving, billowing line protruding from the outer bottom edge of each trapezoid, then draw around in a curve and come back up to the inside bottom edge. This will represent the fire and smoke pouring out of the bottom. This line should bounce erratically, as if tracing the contour of several stacked circles pouring out from beneath the space ship (like a cloud, in a child's drawing).
