How to Change a Headlamp Bulb on a Ford Mondeo

  • Print this article

You should check the headlamp bulbs on your Ford Mondeo every six months or so to make sure they are functioning normally. Of course, if you are driving at night and a headlight bulb blows, you'll know. There's no set service life for the bulbs, and a variety of factors can cause the bulb to blow. You can buy a replacement bulb at any auto parts store; you'll need the part number stamped on the base of the old bulb.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the hood, and disconnect the electrical plug running to the back of the headlight ballast.

    • 2

Turn the bulb counterclockwise with your hand to unlock the bulb and pull it out of the housing assembly.

    • 3

Insert the new bulb. Line up the tabs on the bulb with the notches cut into the housing, and turn the bulb clockwise to secure it to the housing assembly.

    • 4

Plug the electrical connector back into the ballast.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not touch the glass on the headlamp bulb. The oils from your fingers will cause an uneven heating surface and the bulb will explode inside the housing when the bulb is turned on.
