How to Cook Tomatoes in Aluminum Pans
Preparing tomatoes as a side dish to red meat, chicken or fish is a great way to enjoy a nutritious meal, as tomatoes are rich in folic acid as well as vitamins A and B. Whether you choose to cook with solid aluminum or disposable aluminum foil, cooking tomatoes in aluminum is a simple process that does not require any additional culinary skills. Things You'll Need
- Aluminum pan
- Tomatoes
- Salt
- Pepper
- Sugar (optional)
- Nonstick vegetable spray
- Olive oil
- Knife
- Basil (optional)

Ensure that your aluminum pan is clean and dry.

Spray the aluminum pan with nonstick vegetable spray.

Wash the tomatoes and quarter them (slice them once horizontally and once vertically into quarters).

Turn one stove burner on low heat.

Place 2 tbsp. of olive oil in pan. Add the quartered tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste and a touch of basil (about 1/3 tsp.), if desired.

Place the pan on the stove.

Cook on low heat for five to seven minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure that the tomatoes do not stick to the bottom of the pan. Serve and enjoy with your entree.

Tips & Warnings
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends using aluminum pans on low heat only, as high heat can cause the pans to burn.
