How to Apply Red Lipstick on Dark Skin Tones. Red lipstick is not just for the light skin tones, in fact red lipstick can look amazing on dark skin tones. You just have to know how to wear it right! Follow the step by step instructions and pictures and you will be all set to wear that red proud!

  • Deep red lipstick
  • Dark red lipstick (very dark)

    Red! Red lipstick is all about making the lips stand out. The first step is to apply concealer a shade lighter than your skin tone around your lips. This will really make the red lipstick stand out.

  2. Step 2

    Lip Liner. Apply lip liner generously around your lips. If your bottom lip is a lot lighter then your top lip make sure to line the bottom lip very thickly, even half way up will not be overdoing it. This will deepen the red lipstick and give it a more even look.

    Applying the lipstick. do not apply the lipstick directly on your lips. Here is a makeup tip/secret. Always apply with a brush so that it lasts longer and you can control the look more. Apply the darker shade of red to the corners of your lips and your top lip, then apply the less dark shade to the middle and on top of the darker shade.
