Writing a holiday letter is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family members. It is a way to reflect on the happenings of the past year and the memories and news you want to share with others.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pen and paper or computer
  1. Step 1

You can say an enormous amount in a single page letter. People have short attention spans and need to have a synopsis, not a novel. After all, it is the busiest time of the year and they will have many other cards and holiday letters to read and little time to do so.

  2. Step 2

No one can possibly tell all that has happened that they want to share so you must prioritize and share the ones most important to you: anniversaries, weddings, births, family vacations, etc.

  3. Step 3

Share glad tidings and feel free to use a sense of humor and lightness in celebration of Christmas and the holiday season - merriment should be the general mood of your holiday letter.

  4. Step 4

Hand-written holiday letters are always best, but with the 21st Century technology available to us, you may want to consider emailing your holiday letter and adding a photo or two and some festive graphics.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan ahead and do not wait until the last minute or you will disappointed in your final product.
  • Have a friend or family member proof your holiday letter for you.
