Spend a few hours looking around your home or apartment for things that you want to sell at the garage sale. Ask yourself what things you do not use anymore and what do you want to get rid of. Put items in boxes marked “garage sale.” Avoid trying to sell underwear, torn clothes or items that are damaged or no longer work.

Price your items with masking tape or garage sale stickers. The trick to pricing garage sale items is to start a little high. Customers look for bargains and they try to bargain with you at the garage sale. Pricing items a little high will give you plenty of room to bargain.

Place your items on tables or on top of furniture you are selling. Garage sale items sell better when they are easy for customers to reach. Avoid putting items on the ground. Put items for children lower than items for adults.

You can sell things such as TVs that are broken at the garage sale if you make sure to let your customer know they do not work.
