Easily Help Your Child With Their Book Report

A book report is more then just showing what your child learns at school, it also helps them learn while doing the report itself. It is important to make sure they understand the book they are doing the report about. Go over the book with your child asking the questions about the book. Here are some easy ways you can help your child out on their book report, without doing the work yourself.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Get the facts -

Ask your child to gather the facts about the book. For instance..
    What's the books title?
What is the name of the author?
What are the names of the characters?
What is the name of the illustrator?

  2. Step 2

    The setting -

Ask your child to find out where and when the story took place.

  3. Step 3

    More about the characters -

Who is the main character? What are the other characters names involved throughout the story?

  4. Step 4

    About the plot -

What happens in the story? What is the main conflict in the story? How did the conflict get resolved? What events take place to help resolve the conflict?

  5. Step 5

    The main idea -

What there any main theme behind the story itself, like a theme? For instance some books are designed to help one better themselves or to help people learn about certain events, or teach simple lessons to carry with you throughout life.

  6. Step 6

    The final conclusion -

Think about the book itself. What did you like or dislike about the story? How do you feel abut the characters? How you do feel about the choices the characters made in the story?

  7. Step 7

Asking them the above questions will help them gather all the important events throughout the story. Have them take notes when you ask them these questions as a study guide to go back to to help them write their book report.
