How to Add Footnotes in Microsoft Word

When writing reports, term papers, thesis, or letter, adding footnotes or endnotes is very important. It also helps you to organize those papers after printing. You easily locate pages or chapters using this tool.
This article is will show you how to add footnotes using Microsoft Office Word application. All you have to do is to open MS Word document, then select Insert Menu, mouse over Reference and choose Footnotes. A pop up window opens and you will do the rest.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Check if you have Microsoft Office installed in your computer first.

  2. Step 2
     

    Open Microsoft Office Word document.
    Go to Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Office Word

  3. Step 3
     

    Locate Insert Menu and go to Reference and choose Footnote. Refer to the picture attached in this step.

  4. Step 4

    Costumize your footnote such as format, number, start at, etc. Hit insert when done. You can edit it by going through thesame procedure again.
