We bought an old house with fake wood paneling throughout. The first night in our “new” home, my husband went to the kitchen to fix a late night snack and began hollering.

“Roaches! Roaches! We’re infested with roaches!”

So I rushed in there, and the two of us spent the next 15 minutes whacking at the thousands (!) of roaches swarming all over the walls and counters. They had crawled out from underneath the wood paneling as well as from under the sink…and our brand new refrigerator…and we were crushing them like crazy.

Needless to say, it was disgusting.

This went on for days. We cleaned everything. We put every bit of food away the moment we were done with it. We took out our trash several times a day. We fed and watered our little dog outside only. We pulled paneling off the walls. We sprayed Raid left and right. And the roaches just kept coming.

We were at our wit’s end until my husband mentioned our problem to one of his college professors…an ecologist.

Here’s what he told us to do.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • boric acid crystals
  1. Step 1

    Buy boric acid CRYSTALS.

You’ll probably have to go to a pharmacy to buy boric acid in this form. Most boric acid is sold in powered form or as an ingredient of, say, bug spray. Those forms won’t do what you want done…which is to get rid of all the cockroaches permanently!

  2. Step 2

Lay down a thin line of crystallized boric acid around the back of your kitchen counter and around the edges underneath your sink(s).

    That’s it!

We did this…and, since then, have had ZERO cockroaches!

Not only that, but we now own rental properties and do the same thing there. (After all, we can’t control how neat and clean our tenants are.) And we have the same wonderful results.

Why does using boric acid CRYSTALS work so effectively? Because, in addition to boric acid killing roaches *if* they eat it, the crystals also cut through the carapace (the hard shell covering the body) and kill the roaches that way.

So it’s a two-for-one whammy that kills ALL the roaches, not just the weakest ones or the ones that eat it.

Not only that, but the crystals…unlike the power…stay where you put them. You need less. You don’t have to worry about it blowing away. You don’t have to push it into crevices. Just draw a line of boric acid crystals and you’ll start noticing the difference the very next day!

  3. Step 3

After the roaches are gone...sweep up and throw away any remaining boric acid crystals. You won't need it :-)
