Insurance adjusting is an interesting and lucrative profession. Before you can begin working as an adjuster however, you must obtain your adjuster license in the state you wish to work. This guide will walk you through the steps to getting your Georgia insurance adjuster license.

  1. Step 1

    Before you can start the Georgia adjuster application process, you must complete a 40 hour pre-licensing course. There is a link to pre-licensing providers on this page. The only way the pre-licensing process can be waived is if the applicant has a CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty underwriter) designation or if you were previously licensed in the state from which you are moving (or, if a non-resident, the state in which you are a resident).

  2. Step 2

    Next, contact PearsonVUE to schedule an adjuster examination. You can call them at 1-800-274-0488. A link to a list of testing centers in the state of Georgia is included on this page. The pre-licensing course should provide you with the information you need to pass this test, so be sure to study and prepare!

  3. Step 3

    Complete the resident on non-resident application. Both are linked to under additional resources. Include a check for $65 with your application.

  4. Step 4

    When approved, you'll receive a license in the mail. When it's time for renewal, you will get a mailing 45 days in advance. You can file renewals electronically using the link below.

  • If you are applying as a non-resident from a state that doesn't require insurance adjuster licenses, you'll have to take the Georgia Adjuster Examination.
  • Your home state license must be active within 90 days of application.
  • If you are moving to Georgia and applying for a Georgia resident adjuster license and are relying on your former state's adjuster license to skip the exam, you must apply within 90 days of moving.
