How to Prevent Your Bed Sheets From Coming Undone

Fitted bed sheets that slide off the mattress corners can interfere with a good night's sleep. You wake up and the bottom sheet is piled up around your feet or your head, annoying you enough to get up and fix it. A bed with sheets undone at the foot end also takes longer to make up in the morning, as you need to remove the top bedding to fix the sheet corners. Luckily, there are a few easy solutions to prevent your bed sheets from coming undone.

    1. Keeping Fitted Sheets In Place

      • 1

Apply large safety pins to hold the fitted corners of the sheets to the mattress corners. Use eight pins total, with two pins on opposite sides of each corner.

Apply clear polyethylene sock tape to the sheet and mattress corners. Hockey players use this tape to keep their socks up and their shin guards in place. Run the tape from the top of the sheet corners down underneath the mattress. When you're ready to wash the sheets, peel the tape off, and later add new tape when you put the sheets back on the bed. This tape is inexpensive and is available at sporting stores, department stores and online retailers.

Purchase elastic fasteners designed especially for bed sheets. These clip to the sheet corners and slip under the mattress. Bed sheet fasteners also are inexpensive and different styles are available at many stores and online.

Use bed sheets that are one size larger than the mattress. This is particularly helpful if the mattress is a bit taller than standard.
