After spending time keeping a carpet clean, it can be frustrating when anything happens to mess it up, including wood stains. A wood stain may come from moving furniture around on your carpet. A wood stain is not always easy to remove from the carpet. A professional steam cleaner may be needed for tough stains. However, you will be able to tackle smaller stains yourself.
Step 1
Test the stained area with a small portion of carpet stain remover to make sure that the carpet does not get discolored. Prepare the area that is stained by pouring carpet stain remover on it to loosen up the wood stain grime.

Allow the carpet cleaner to set in the area for up to 10 minutes. Soak an old cloth or rag in warm or lukewarm water. Ring most of the water from the cloth and begin to rub the carpet cleaner in a circular motion into the carpet.
Step 3
Set an iron on low heat. Put a damp cloth over the affected area and apply the low-heated iron on the damp cloth to steam the area.
Step 4
Steam the cleaned area using a carpet steamer. Scrub the stain lightly with a dry cloth or rag.
Step 5
Put on rubber gloves, and then use acetone on a clean cloth to blot the stained carpeted area until the wood stain disappears. Spray WD-40 or lacquer thinner on the wood stain and blot it with a clean paper towel.
Step 6
Check the carpet fiber to make sure the stain has been removed. Reapply the carpet cleaner and start the cleaning and steaming process again if the stain persists.
