How to Remove Gum on a Car
You just got your car washed only to find someone decided to place their used chewing gum on the hood of your car. The sticky foundation of gum makes it difficult to get off. However, with a few household items and a bug and tar remover that can be purchased from most auto supply stores, gum can be removed, leaving your car looking like new again.

1
Apply a bug and tar remover to a soft cloth. Bug and tar removers are safe to use on car paint and are formulated to remove any sticky or difficult substance from a car's exterior. Place the moistened cloth over the gum and hold for 10 to 25 seconds. The remover will soften and dissolve the gum, making it easier to wipe up.

2
Rub the cloth towards the center of the stain to begin removing the gum. Do not rub in a circular motion as this will cause the gum to further set into the surface of the car.

Tips & Warnings
Only use cleaners designed for car exteriors and car paint. Chemicals found in ordinary cleaners may damage and possibly ruin the paint on your car.
Do not use a metal razor or scraper to remove the gum. The metal will leave permanent scratch marks.
