How to Make Paper Wedding Bouquet Flower Holders

Bridal bouquets are beautiful on their own, but you can further embellish yours with a bouquet holder. Some bouquet holders are made of metal, while others are made of decorative paper for a charming, homemade look. Make your own wedding bouquet flower holders using a few crafts supplies---some of which you may have lying around the house.

Things You'll Need

  • Bouquet holder pattern
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paper doily with scalloped edge (approx. 9" diameter)
  • Silk or chiffon ribbon
  • Craft glue or tape

Instructions

    • 1

Download and print a bouquet holder template. (See resources for information on where to get a template). The template will serve as a guide for creating the holder from your paper doily.

    • 2

Place the template under your doily. Mark the cut out and fold lines from the pattern with your pencil. Use your scissors to cut along the triangle cutout you traced onto the doily. Be sure not to cut along the fold lines in the center of the doily.

    • 3

Fold the doily along the fold lines you traced onto the doily. You can enforce the crease lines of the fold with your fingernail.

    • 4

Slide the flower bouquet into the cutout. Wrap the outer edges of the paper doily around the bouquet and glue or tape the paper overlap together. You can tie a ribbon around the stems of the flowers to give it a finished look. Trim the bottom of the ribbon tails at an angle.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use decorative scrapbook paper instead of a doily if you prefer. In this case, you'll need to trace the template onto the scrapbook paper, cut a scalloped edge with specialty scissors and then follow the rest of the steps.

  • You may wish to dress the bouquet holder further by adding decorative flowers, rhinestones or additional ribbon.
