How to Start a Weight Loss Club in the Workplace
It's easier to lose weight when you have the support of the people around you. Since people spend a large percentage of their time in the workplace, starting a weight-loss club in the workplace could be the key to success. Members of your work fat-loss club can help motivate and inspire each other. Work together or compete with each other to meet your weight loss goals.

1
Ask around to determine the level of interest and what your coworkers seek in a weight-loss club. Either by email or stopping by people's desks, take a basic count of how many people want to join a company club for weight loss. Also allow co-workers to give their input as to how it should work and the time commitment people are willing to put in. For example, some people may want to hold a weekly support meeting and others may want to compete to see who can lose the most weight. Try to come to a consensus about the purpose of the group.

2
Send out a formal invitation to everyone in the office. Be sure that everyone knows about the weight-loss group and that everyone is invited. You can do this by email or interoffice mail.

3
Decide on a weekly weigh-in day to monitor progress. You can either keep a scale at the office or have people report weight from their home scale. If holding a competition, you'll want to weigh at the office to be sure that people are telling the truth.

4
Offer resources to help members lose weight. If the weight-loss club is an official part of the company, you may be able to get a discount at a local gym. Even without that, members can benefit from reading material about following a healthy diet and getting enough exercise.
-
5
Set up a monthly challenge. Give club members a goal to reach. For example, the first month, you could challenge everyone to not drink soda. Other challenges could be exercising for 30 minutes every day, eating five servings of vegetables every day or trying a new recipe every week. You can vote on the monthly challenge at one of your meetings to ensure group input.
-
6
Accept new members whenever they would like to join. You don't want to exclude someone just because he or she didn't join on your start date. Allow co-workers to join whenever they feel that it's the right time to start losing weight.
