How to Build a Welding Company
Building a welding company can be a challenging and fulfilling task, but it can be done with a minimal amount of funding. Welding is a service needed in almost every community anywhere in the country, and metalworking can be expanded to a number of different areas. As in every field of business, expanding your company depends on identifying markets, targeting your advertising, increasing customer satisfaction and rewarding employees who contribute most to the company's goals. Building your welding business depends on understanding where you've been and clearly seeing where you want to go.

Put together a marketing campaign. After you have learned whom you need to contact, put together a clear and informative letter or pamphlet on what you can do to help their business. This introductory pamphlet does not have to be fancy or expensive. You can do most of it on your computer with a good publishing program, but make it look as professional as you can. If your grammar and spelling skills are a bit lacking, hire a college student with an English major to help. Photos of you, your place of business and work that you have done will give potential customers a good idea of what you can do for them. Have professional-looking business cards made. Send out your promotional material to a targeted audience, not slapdash everywhere.

Make calls and knock on doors. Nothing sells better than personal contact. Once you have a list of who might need your services, go out and make contact with them. Look well-groomed and professional. Have plenty of business cards with you. Don't eat up a lot of their time, just tell them who you are, what you do and how you can make their business easier and more profitable. Be prepared for plenty of no's, but remain calm and professional. They may need you later and they will remember your good attitude.

Review your advertising. In many parts of the country, advertising in printed telephone books is now out of style. Make sure you have a presence online. Make or get a web site. There are plenty of young people who can help you set up a web site. Research all the new methods of getting your business name known to the community, from community blogs to participating in charitable events. As part of the business community, there are lots of ways to make contact with other business people.
