How to Use Epson Salt as a Cleanser

Epson salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, is a product that you may already have in your home to help you relax and reduce stress. The salt can also act as a cleanser to cleanse your hair, your colon, as well as your skin. If you are taking medication drugs, consult your physician before using the Epson salt since the salt can negatively interact with certain medications. You should also refrain from using the salt if you are experiencing pain in the abdominal area, nausea or vomiting.

Use Epson salt as a cleanser to remove the buildup of oil and hair products from your hair. To do this, mix 1/2 cup of Epson salt with 1/2 cup of lemon juice. Wet your hair, from root to end, and apply the mixture. Allow the mixture to remain on your hair for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. After rinsing the salt, you can proceed to shampoo your hair as usual.

Use Epson salt as a cleanser for your colon. When ingested, the salt will act as a laxative, so be sure that you can stay close to a toilet. To create the colon cleanser, mix 1 tsp. of the Epson salt with 20 oz. of water and drink the mixture.

Use the Epson salt as a cleanser for your face. If you have oily skin, you can mix some of the Epson salt with your regular facial cleanser. The salt will dry the excess oils out of your skin. After you have cleansed your face with the salt, rinse your face with water and pat dry.

Use the Epson salt as a full body scrub. To do this, you can place some of the salt on a shower mitt or loofah while you are taking a shower. Scrub the salt all over your body in a circular motion to exfoliate dead skin cells. Rinse the salt off of your body after your scrub is complete. The salt can also be placed on the face as an exfoliant to remove dead skin.
