How to Make a Green Bean Cheese Casserole
The green bean casserole is a classic American dish widely served as a side at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Use Cheez Whiz Cheese Dip or Velveeta cheese for easy, even melting of the cheese sauce. - Nonstick cooking spray
- 3 9-ounce packages of frozen French cut green beans, thawed and drained
- 1 can (10.75 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup melted or soft cheese
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 package (2.8 ounces) French-fried onions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lightly spray the inside of a deep casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Mix all ingredients but half of the onions in the casserole dish.

Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until edges are brown. Add the rest of the fried onions to the top of the dish, and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Serve hot.

Tips & Warnings
For a crunchier casserole, add walnuts, red bell pepper or bacon bits.
For a creamier casserole, substitute 1 cup Alfredo sauce for the fried onions.
