Center your mattress when installing it in between the headboard and footboard. Often times, squeaky springs are due to an imbalanced mattress.

    • 2

Screw in any loose nuts or bolts underneath the bed, at the headboard and footboard. Make sure all screws and bolts are tightened as much as possible without stripping them.

    • 3

Spray some cooking oil or WD-40 on the springs that make sounds if you do run into a problem. Remove the mattress to reveal the box springs, and then press down on different areas of the box springs until you find the springs that are making the noise.

Check the floorboards underneath the bed to see if they are uneven. Crooked floors could cause an uneven distribution throughout the box spring, creating too much pressure on one area, which will result in squeaking.
