How to Stop Nosebleeds Naturally

Nosebleeds are something that happen to almost everyone at some point in their life. They can occur as a result of dry skin within the nose or as a reaction to the environment or stress. If you get a nosebleed, getting it to stop naturally is usually fairly easy to do and should only take a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit down. The calmer you are, the quicker your nosebleed will stop.

    • 2

Make a thumbs up sign with the hand on the same side as the bleeding nostril. For instance if your left nostril is bleeding make a thumbs up with your left thumb.

    • 3

Press your thumb firmly against the outside of the bleeding nostril, cutting off airflow to that side of your nose.

    • 4

Hold your thumb against the side of your nose for five minutes.

    • 5

Remove your thumb from the side of your nose and check to see if the bleeding has stopped. If your nose continues to bleed, hold your thumb against the side of your nostril for an additional five minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Nose bleeds can be a warning sign for larger and sometime fatal medical conditions. If you experience frequent nosebleeds or it takes longer than five minutes to stop a nosebleed, you should seek the advice of a medical professional.
