An easy way to add an exotic and beautiful touch to your dishes is with the addition of edible flowers. Edible flowers are becoming more and more popular as garnishes. Common edible flowers are chamomile, geraniums, jasmine, pansies and violets. Drying edible flowers allows you to keep them around for a long time to use at your leisure. Try adding edible flowers to a salad or floating a couple in a drink.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kitchen twine
  • Lingerie bag
  1. Step 1

Pick the flowers in the morning, when they have retained the most water from the overnight dew and are the most flavorful.

  2. Step 2

Tie the stems together with kitchen twine or string. If the flowers don't have stems, put them in a lingerie bag or any small mesh bag.

  3. Step 3

Hang the flowers upside down in a dark, well-ventilated and dry area.

  4. Step 4

Wait at least 24 hours for the flowers to dry. Depending on the type of flower, you may have to wait a few days for them to dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Store the dried flowers in an airtight container in a dark, cool place.
