How to Decorate a Wine Rack
Wine racks can be more than functional; they also can be beautiful. They can be decorated in a snap and lend themselves well to themes rife with the Roman god Bacchus, grape leaves and stunning pieces of wine-themed artwork. The key to creating a truly beautiful wine rack like this is to decorate it in such a way that the decor enhances it instead of overpowering it. In the best sense, it becomes merely an extension of the rack instead of a few separate pieces that were added later. Does this Spark an idea?

Decorating Your Wine Rack
-
1
Decorate more than just the wine rack itself. Including the wall behind the rack as well as the shelf or counter on which the rack sits will help pull everything together so that the rack doesn't look like a piece floating by itself in the room.
-
2
Go shopping to get the supplies. You can purchase silk grape leaves and plastic grapes and the paint supplies at decorating or crafts stores. The tapestries, napkins and prints you can get at furniture stores, but sometimes even dollar stores have them. The wall fountain can be ordered or found in a home and garden store.

-
3
Sketch out the layout of all the pieces in your wine gallery once you've done your shopping. Be sure to include the placement of the stencils in your drawings.
-
4
Paint any stencils you want in the display. Let dry.
-
5
Move the display table to its place against the wall.
-
6
Place a decorative cloth on the table. This will go under the wine rack. Oftentimes you can find really beautiful ones at second-hand or dollar stores. Brocade patterns work well for the wine motif.
-
7
Place the wine rack on the decorative cloth. Then arrange a few sprigs of the silk leaves and grape clusters on it. These can be placed on top or draped on the necks of the wine bottles.
-
8
Make wine tags using the handmade paper. Cut them out and write the name of the wine on each tag. Then punch a hole in the tag using the hole punch. Tie the labels onto the corresponding bottle using the ribbon.
-
9
Put your wine in the slots in the rack. The tags should hang down so that you can read what kind of wine is inside each bottle without pulling the wine out of the rack.
-
10
Hang any pictures on the wall above and behind the rack. Pictures usually work best when they are in odd numbers. You don't have to follow this rule always; it's just a good rule of thumb to keep in mind.
-
11
Fasten the Bacchus fountain securely onto the wall right next to the wine rack. This can be wired to work as a fountain. However, in this case, it's going to function as a glasses and wine bottles holder.
-
12
Line the bottom of the fountain with several napkins. Wrap a cloth around one of the extra bottles of wine; place this in the center. Then take four wine glasses, wrapping them also with napkins and arrange them two on each side next to the wine bottle.
-
13
Place the silk leaves and a several clusters of grapes into the fountain, arranging them around the wine bottle and glasses.
-
14
Find a really long piece of the silk grape leaves or create a vine by tying several pieces together. Place this in front of the wine rack. You can add grapes here, too.
-
15
Put the wicker basket next to the wine rack on the side opposite the fountain and line the inside with several napkins. Place the wine openers inside. Decorate with grapes and grape leaves.

Tips & Warnings
This theme works very well with wall tapestries instead of prints or paintings. Just hang the tapestry behind the wine rack instead of the pictures.
