If you've chosen a pair of snow goggles that properly fit your face, wearing them is the easy part. Getting the goggles correctly seated on your face will increase your vision and keep you alert on the slopes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the appropriate lens color for the conditions. The first important part of wearing goggles is to wear the right goggles. Lenses are suited for different conditions. For instance, clear goggles are primarily for night riding, dark goggles are for bright days without much cloud cover and yellow goggles are good for low light. For days that threaten shifting weather, bring several goggles or lenses.

  2. Step 2

Wear the goggles over your hat or helmet. The straps should be on top of the headwear you use when skiing or riding. Many helmets have a goggle clip to keep the goggles in place. If you'd prefer, you can also wear the goggles on your head underneath the helmet or hat.

  3. Step 3

Adjust the goggle straps. Goggles all have strap adjustments that you'll need to loosen or tighten to fit comfortably, based upon the size of your head or helmet. You want to get the goggles so they fit snugly on your face but don't squeeze or cause pressure.

  4. Step 4

Seat the goggles so that they sit comfortably on your nose. The top of the goggles should extend to your hat or helmet. The goggles should be flush against your face and should be snug enough to stay in place. There shouldn't be any gaps between the padding and your face.

  5. Step 5

Make sure that you have ample peripheral vision. The goggles should provide maximum peripheral vision so that you are able to clearly see other people and obstacles at your sides.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should understand how to wear goggles before purchasing so that you can get a pair that fits properly.
  • Different goggles will fit different faces. Try on a number of goggles, and find the pair with the best fit and visibility for your face.
