How to Build a Tiny Floating House
Many children, at some point or another, have a dream of sending their little furry friend, such as a hamster or gerbil, on a grand sailing adventure. They might create make-shift rafts out of spare toy parts or dream of rafting down the great Mississippi river. Follow this guide to make a simple, tiny floating home strong enough to hold a small pet.

Cut a piece of styrofoam to 6 inches by 6 inches. It must be at least 1 1/2 inches thick.

Trace an inner square with a pencil, an inch in from each edge, on one side of the styrofoam square.

Place popsicles sticks into the styrofoam along the traced line to create the walls of the house. Leave a small opening for a door. Use glue to hold the popsicle sticks in the styrofoam along the base.

Run a small amount of glue where each popsicle stick touches along the sides, gluing them together. Allow half an hour for the glue to dry.

Use construction paper, markers and stickers to decorate the house. Allow everything to dry.

Float the house in a bathtub or pool.

Tips & Warnings
Only construct this house under direct adult supervision. If you are up for it, create the roof out of popsicle sticks.
Avoid actually sending your hamster down the great Mississippi. If you do plan on letting your hamster float around, do so under extreme caution as it can be end up being extremely harmful to your pet.
