How to Make a WiFi Connection

Setting up and connecting to a wireless network is an easy process and can be a great asset around the home. A Wi-Fi network cuts down on the amount of wires in your home and provides Internet access to desktop computers, laptops, cell phones and MP3 players.To do so, your computer must have a wireless network card and you must be in range of a wireless network.

• Wireless network
• Wi-Fi network card

Instructions

Wi-Fi Connection for Windows XP

1. Double click on the wireless icon in your system tray. It looks like a computer screen with green radio waves emanating from it.

2. Select the wireless connection in the dialog box that you wish to connect your computer to.

3. Enter the WPA password if necessary

Wi-Fi Connection for Windows Vista

1. Right click on the "Network" icon in the system tray.

2. Click "Connect To."

3. Select the wireless connection in the dialog box that you wish to connect your computer to.

4. Enter the WPA password if necessary

Connecting to Wi-Fi on a Mac

1. Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner.

2. Select "System Preferences."

3. Select "Network."

4. In the network dialog box, select "Airport" from the "Show" menu.

5. Select "Preferred Networks" in the drop down box next to "By Default, Join."

6. Select the wireless network that you wish to join.

7. Enter the WPA password if necessary.
