How to Draw a Venus Flytrap

Venus flytraps are fun to draw because they are easy to complete but look pretty complicated. When you start your drawing, make sure to focus only on one section at a time---this is the key to creating a flawless drawing.

Instructions

    • 1

Start off by drawing the flytrap's head. The head is shaped like a sideways egg, with a V-shaped gap on the side to serve as the mouth. Draw small, wispy, teeth-like structures within the V. Fix any mistakes with an eraser. If you want your drawing to be more cartoon-like, feel free to add a pair of eyes on the head.

    • 2

Draw the foundation for the stem by adding a few lines directly underneath the head that resemble a T. When the T is the general length you'd like, begin adding leaves that sprout from the cross section of the T, flowing up and down around the plant.

    • 3

Finish by either drawing a pot at the bottom of the stem or by simply adding a few sprigs of grass growing upward around the plant. Fix any uneven lines with your eraser, and to top it off, draw a tiny fly making its way toward the plant's open mouth.
