Hosting a dinner party or barbecue can be an exciting way to meet new friends and gather with your loved ones, but decorating and adding personal touches to the atmosphere can require some work. Tying the corners of a tablecloth provides a decorative touch to your dining area, and prevents wind from blowing it away at an outdoor event.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Spread the tablecloth evenly over the table. It is best to work with a tablecloth that is larger than your table. For example, use a 9-by-9 foot tablecloth for an 8-by-8 foot table.

  2. Step 2

Cut a 4-inch slit in each corner with scissors. The slit should appear to run diagonally toward the corner of the table.

  3. Step 3

Start with one corner of the tablecloth and grasp each side of the slit corner.

  4. Step 4

Tie the sections that you cut at each corner into a simple bow (see the Resources section for an instructional video).

  5. Step 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each corner of the tablecloth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get creative and add decorative ribbons to the bow at each corner.
  • Experiment with different fabrics for your tied tablecloth. Cotton and other similar materials are ideal for this project.
