Instructions

    • 1

Place the print fleece on the floor or a large flat surface with the right side facing down.

    • 2

Top with the solid fleece, with the right side facing up. Line up all edges. The fleece layers do not need to be pinned, they will cling together.

    • 3

Measure and cut a 5-by-5-inch square from the cardboard.

    • 4

Place the square cardboard piece on one corner of the layered fleece and align the edges of the cardboard with the edges of the fleece. Trace around the cardboard edges. Cut along the traced line and remove the piece. Repeat for the remaining three blanket corners.

    • 5

Use the scissors to cut 1-inch wide strips along each blanket side. Strips should be 5 inches deep; you can measure with the cardboard or estimate the depth of the cuts.

    • 6

Begin at one corner of the blanket and tie the first pair of fringes together using a simple overhand knot. Tie one print and one solid fringe together, then move on to the next pair. Work your way around the perimeter of the blanket until you arrive at your starting point. Store your finished blanket or use it right away.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make a blanket of any size by following the same steps and adjusting the amount of fabric you use.

  • Make a pillow by cutting an 18-inch square of fleece and cutting the fringe 3 inches deep. Tie as directed, stuffing with a pillow form to give it shape.

  • Woven and knit fabrics are not suitable for this project; they will pull and unravel when cut.
