How to Live with your Parents as an Adult

Whatever your situation may be, living with your parents may be a good option for saving up money to move out.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Respect the home. Their house means their rules.

  2. Step 2

Enjoy your family’s company. Rather than being a hermit in your room, be engaged in the lives of your family members.

  3. Step 3

Do chores. Chores that need to be done everyday include doing the dishes, taking out the trash, and cleaning up dog poop. Ask other ways that you can help around the house.

  4. Step 4

Love what you have. Whether it is the home-cooked meals or the company of your family, you can probably show more thanks around the house.

  5. Step 5

Ask before using. Examples: washer, dryer, home phones, pool, etc.

  6. Step 6

    Have a positive attitude.

  7. Step 7

When move out day is approaching, make sure to maintain positive relationships with your family.

  8. Step 8

I normally do not recommend watching TV but consider watching MTV's “World’s Strictest Parents.” The show puts troubled teens in the lives of successful but strict parents.
