How to Make 3D Glasses With a Printer
If you want to watch a movie that was filmed in 3D, you don't need to go out and buy an extra pair of 3D glasses. It can be much more fun to make your own 3D glasses with a printer at home, and turn it into a crafts project with your family. As long as you have a working printer you can easily print off a template for a pair of glasses. According to NASA, you can create the "3D anaglyph" effect by using red and blue sheets of acetate film that trick your eyes into seeing three-dimensional images.
Instructions

1
Place a heavyweight card stock paper, such as 160-lb. or 200-lb. card stock, in your printer. Navigate your web browser to one of the Resources links for a 3D glasses template.
-
2
Print off one sheet for a single pair of glasses, or multiple sheets for multiple glasses. Use a pair of scissors to cut out the two segments for the sides of the glasses and the third central segment for the lenses.

-
3
Place the red and blue acetate film over the two lens holes on the third paper segment of the glasses. Trace the outline of the lens holes on the acetate film with a pen or pencil.
-
4
Cut the lens outlines out of the acetate film, making them about a quarter-inch larger than the cutouts for the lens holes. Place the red acetate film on the right lens and the blue acetate film on the left lens. Tape the film into place over the lens holes.

Tape the two side paper segments (the temples and earpieces) to the sides of the frame segment to construct the glasses.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to make the 3D glasses sturdier you can print out the template on a standard sheet of printer paper instead of card stock. Cut out the three segments and then place them on a heavier material such as corrugated poster board. Draw the outline of the three segments with the pencil and then cut out the outlines with a razor or heavy-duty scissors.
You can acquire red and blue acetate film from most craft or hobby stores.
