Illuminate the clinic with candles and dim lights. Dimmer lighting helps people relax, and sets the clinic apart from the bright light outside. Candles offer a relaxing flicker; dim lighting provides enough light for the therapist to perform the massage, while remaining dark enough for the client to fully relax.

Address all the senses by choosing a light, relaxing fragrance to fill the clinic. Scented candles or oil burners placed in the lobby and massage rooms are a good choice. Select a fragrance that is earthy, natural and relaxing.

Decorate the lobby with comfortable furniture and large pillows. This allows the client to relax and sink into something soft before receiving a massage. The lobby should also have a water cooler or tea station so the client can have something to drink before and after the massage. Another relaxing addition to the lobby is a water wall or a fountain. The sound of water can be very soothing, so this would help the client relax prior to the massage.
