How to Make a Mold of Baby's Feet
A mold of your child's feet can be a prized keepsake. Making a mold of your baby's feet requires two sets of hands. According to Casting Gifts, one person will need to hold the baby and the other person will be responsible for making the mold. You can purchase molding clay from your local craft store. If done properly, the mold will last for years. Casting Gifts recommends keeping the mold in a shadow box or using it as a paper weight.

- Petroleum jelly
- Molding clay
- Plaster mix
- Plastic container
- Soap
- Water

How to Make a Mold of Baby's Feet

Cover work area with newspaper. Rub baby's feet with a generous amount of petroleum jelly. This will prevent the plaster from sticking to the child's feet.

Mix plaster in plastic container big enough to hold child's feet. Place baby's feet side-by-side in plaster. Press firmly. Don't let the child's foot touch bottom or sides of plastic container, as this will break the mold.

Gently remove child's feet from plaster. Wash feet with soapy water and dry. Let mold dry.

Fill baby's foot print impression with molding clay. Press firmly until molding clay fills entire impression. Let the mold sit in impression for approximately 10 minutes.

Gently remove molding clay from plaster mold. Let molding clay drive overnight.
