Things You'll Need:
- Plan
- Relaxation
-
Step 1
Remain Calm: One thing you may find as you approach the big 3-0 is the overwhelming urge to panic or stress out about various things or events in your life. 30 seems to be an age where people have set specific goals to be achieved, and having not achieved those goals can cause an individual to stress or panic and feel an ovewhelming sense of uselessness. Just remember to relax and stay calm, even if you haven't reached your goals- there is still plenty of time to do so!
-
Step 2
Keep yourself occupied: Whether you need mental or physical stimulation, figure out something you can enjoy and look forward to in your 30s. Just remember, it is only another day- you're not going to suddenly be unable to play the sports you played in your 20s, or go out like you did in your 20s- you can still do everything you did before, but with more wisdom and knowledge than you did when you started out on your previous decade of life.
-
Step 3
Set new goals: If you feel that you have not accomplished all that you wanted to during your 20s, don't stress out. You can set new goals that will be accomplished in your 30s. You will want to make specific and attainable goals that can be markedly achieved by identified endpoints. If no endpoints exist, set an age that you can accomplish the new goal by, and look forward to the future instead of looking back at unaccomplished goals in the past.
-
Step 4
Talk to people: If you have friends or family who have endured a 30th birthday, talk to them. Ask them for advice about how to handle the big day. Ask them how they felt- many times you will find that they had many of the same feelings that you are now feeling, and that those worries eventually faded and were for naught.
-
Step 5
Enjoy yourself: You should be coming into your own in your 30s. You won't be seen as a "20 year old" but as a more seasoned and well-thought-of "30-something." Now is the time to really start enjoying what you've learned about in your 20s. If you're not sure what kinds of things you can do, consider earning a new degree, taking cooking classes, learning about historical things that you enjoy, start a project (build a car, write a blog or book) and don't forget to enjoy what you do!
