Organizing a Christmas cookie swap is a great way to share holiday cheer with friends and family and make your house smell good at the same time! Nothing makes a house feel more like a home than the smell of freshly baked holiday cookies.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

~~Select the right group of people for your Holiday cookie swap~~

A successful holiday cookie swap starts with inviting the right friends and family to spread the holiday cheer. Select friends who are upbeat and enjoy the holidays - no one needs a downer hanging around!

  2. Step 2

~~Create special Holiday cookie swap invitations~~

Make easy Christmas cookie swap invitations by printing out a picture of a cookie and put your information on the back. Put the date, time, suggested cookie types (dough or baked) and any other specifics. You can also do holiday cookie swap invitations on evite.com!

  3. Step 3

~~Add instructions for your guests to follow~~

Have each guest bundle 1/2 dozen cookies together in baggies for everyone invited. If you're only having 4 or 5 guests, you can increase it to a dozen per guest. Ask your cookie bakers to include a small paper with the cookie name and instructions for baking more.

  4. Step 4

    ~~Ready your house for a Holiday party~~

Light some jar candles (for safety) in complementary scents, such as gingerbread, chocolate chip or baking cake. Add some holiday garland up the steps and make up a Christmas egg nog to dip into waiting goblets.

  5. Step 5

~~Make festive name cards for your guests to put in front of their cookies~~

Place all cookies on one table with a festive name card for each guest to place in front of their cookies. Have everyone take one package from each cookie type. Once your cookie swap is done, start the REAL party....

Tips & Warnings
  • Have lots of cold milk on hand for a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.
  • Salty snacks, like peanuts, go well with a Christmas cookie swap.
  • A holiday cookie swap may become habit forming...and waist destroying...
