Hmm… a seat filler. A person who fills seats? Exactly! But, why? Well, ever see one of those high profile celebrity award shows? The camera pans over the sea of seats with meticulously placed celebrities and there’s not one empty seat in the house! Wow! There’s a full house, everyone on time and ready to start the show! No… not exactly. In the real world, celebrities often show up to award shows late and only show for their performances or after they’ve accepted their award. In order for the audience to always look full, television executives hire companies to find seat fillers to fill the empty seats. You don’t have to be famous to attend, any average person like you or me are welcome. The best part is, you have a front row seat to the greatest concert ever FOR FREE. Here are a few tips on how you can become a seat filler:

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Be determined. Do your research. See which company will be supplying the seat fillers for the event you want to attend. Do you need to contact the television station directly or the seat filling company?

  2. Step 2

Apply online at a seat filling website. Seatfiller.com and AudiencesUnlimited.com are probably the most popular, but others exist. Again, do your research and apply. If you get picked you will be sent an email with the appropriate details.

  3. Step 3

Don’t complain! There will be a lot of waiting around and standing. You will switching seats (depending if your celebrity has returned or not) all night, so even though you love being sat next to JayZ and Beyonce, when you are asked to move you better move! Any complaining can get you booted from the event!

  4. Step 4

Remember the dress code. Following the dress code is VERY important. The nicer and prettier you look the more the seatfilling coordinators will stick you in the front by the cameras and high profile celebs. Poorly dressed seat fillers may end up in the back and not show up on camera at all.

  5. Step 5

Don’t speak to the celebrities or try to take their picture! At every seat filling event I’ve gone to, you are not allowed to bring cameras, or speak to the celebrities unless they’ve spoken to you first. Remember, attending an award show is a very high privilege, and it can be taken away from you in a second if the rules are not followed!
