Ogunquit, which means "Beautiful Place by the Sea" in Abenaki Indian, is a small town in the southeastern corner of Maine. Only about an hour outside of Boston, the area has many opportunities and can be visited by anyone on any budget.

  1. Step 1
    Plan your trip around one of the many festivals of Ogunquit
     
    Plan your trip around one of the many festivals of Ogunquit

    To begin, plan your vacation to Ogunquit around one of the cities many festivals. The OgunquitFest, Capriccio, Celebrations by the Sea, and Christmas by the Sea are just a few which have many of free things to see and do for locals and tourists alike.

  2. Step 2

    Enjoy one of the historical sites of Ogunquit like the Captain James Winn House or the Ogunquit Museum and Library which offer free admission.

    You may also enjoy Beach Plum Farm which is still the site of a working 22 acre salt water farm. You can also enjoy the natural landscaping with benches and wildlife.

    Nubble Light House

    Take time to enjoy the Ogunquit Beach. Then, in the evening, take a drive just outside of Ogunquit, to York, ME and enjoy the famous Nubble Light House.

  4. Step 4
    Perkins Cove

    Spend a day browsing around Perkins Cove. This scenic harbor is the home of one of the few wooden foot drawbridges left in the United States to this day.

    And finally, from Perkins Cove take the Marginal Way Trail. This is a 1.5 mile path that winds along the cliffs of the coastline.
