Now with a cat in the news with the H1N1 flu virus, all pet owners will need to be careful with their animals as well as their family. One of the best ways to guard against the H1N1 or any flu or virus is by boosting the body’s immune system. Pets can benefit from vitamins and herbs that help build the body’s immune system up just like people do. It is best not to wait until the pet has symptoms but instead start a preventative program whenever a member of the family has been exposed to the virus.
A little preparedness can go a long way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vitamin C
  • Echinacea
  • Goldenseal
  • a raw diet
  1. Step 1

Ask your veterinarian for a complete vitamin supplement and during flu season boost your pet’s immune system by adding the vitamins to the daily meal plan.
By adding a very small amount of these extra supplements to your pet’s food you can help to ward off this virus before it strikes.
Take into consideration how much your pet weighs and adjust the amount accordingly.

  2. Step 2

    Vitamin C
Vitamin C is crucial for boosting your dog’s immune system. Vitamin C has essential antiviral and antibacterial activity, but its main effect is improvement of host resistance.

  3. Step 3

Herbs are Mother Nature's medicine and when animals are sick they seek out wild plants to help them feel better. By keeping our pet's contained we prevent this natural healing instinct from taking place. The herbs should only be used when the body is exposed to the illness or virus for the best attack mode. Otherwise the virus adapts when it enters the body to the herb..so watch for the first sign of illness then attack the virus with these herbs.

  4. Step 4

    Echinacea

Echinacea is one of the most studied medicinal herbs, especially in Europe. Recent scientific documentation of its immune enhancing effects is validating its benefits. Echinacea has immune system boosting anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and skin healing properties.
    Use of Echinacea:
-Natural herbal immune booster for pet medication
    -Preventing colds and influenza
-Helps combat chronic viral and bacterial infections and has natural antibiotic properties
    -Wound healing and skin disorders.

  5. Step 5

    Goldenseal
Goldenseal root is commonly used as a supplement for the immune system and has been used with excellent results for treating ear and eye infections in dogs and cats.

Goldenseal has long been recognized as an effective antibiotic alternative in pets and people.

  6. Step 6

    Raw Food

Another way to boost your pets immune system is with a raw diet of all organic foods. When dog food is processed and made it loses many of the vitamins required for the immune system and that is why the ingredients on a bag of pet food include so many vitamin supplements so when trying to boost your pet’s immune system it would behelpful to add some raw organic food to the diet.

  7. Step 7
He looks like he caught the flu..haha he is wet.

Use the recommended dosage of the product you buy as prescribed for the weight of the animal you will be attending to.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always seek professional medical attention for your pet when the need arises.
  • The herbs should only be used when the body is exposed to the illness or virus for the best attack mode. Otherwise the virus adapts when it enters the body to the herb..so watch for the first sign of illness then attack the virus with these herbs.
