Saving a webpage as a file in Internet Explorer 8 is very easy. Saving the webpage for later use can be very helpful. It may help you to save time if you are doing research, limit using too many bookmarks, or enable you to view the website later when you will not have internet access. If you need to save a webpage or already knew how in Internet Explorer 7 but cannot figure it out in Internet Explorer 8, then follow the steps in this article.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

In Internet Explorer 8 navigate to the webpage you want to save.

  2. Step 2

Go to the top right side of the menu to “Page”. There is a down arrow next to the title “Page”. Click here to pull up a dialog box. In the dialog box click “Save as”. The “save a webpage as a file” dialog box will then be loaded.

  3. Step 3

Next to “filename”, name the file that you will be saving the webpage under. If you want to change the directory you are saving the file in, do it at this time.

  4. Step 4

Under the filename select the type of webpage file you want to save.

Select "Webpage, complete" to save the original website page with all the graphics, frames, etc.

Select "Text File" just to save the text on the page.

Select "Webpage, HTML only" to save only the HTML without the pictures, graphics, flash, and sounds.

Select "Web Archive, single file" to save everything within one file. This selection keeps the files neater but also saves the same page you would see if you were online.

Try some of the different ways of savings a webpage through Internet Explorer 8 to find the file type you like the best.
