Find Good Influences: The Four Best Positive Role Models For Your Teen

It seems like everything on television geared towards teens now adays had an emphasis on being mean. Instead of fueling the cattiness, recommend these shows to the teenager girl you care about. They're all smart, funny, well written, and most of all, guaranteed to have a good influence on her.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rachel Berry (Lea Michele in Glee running 2009 to present) Glee is a set in a middle America high school not unlike any high school you or I attended. There’s a social order, and at the very bottom of it is Rachel Berry, an at some times abrasive singer destined for the bright lights of Broadway. She strives for what she wants while surviving the school and keeping her morals more or less intact.

  2. Step 2

Joan Girardi (Amber Tamblyn in Joan of Arcadia running 2003 to 2005) Joan is a typical teenage girl in a new town after her father’s job uproots the family. With one brother in a wheel chair and the other permanently attached to a microscope and parents dealing with the stressors of every day life Joan is the average joe of the family. With one exception, she can talk to God. He appears to her in different forms telling her about things she can do to help other people. After ignoring him she finally gives in and does his bidding, giving her a purpose in life. I think a lot of girls will identify with her because she’s somewhat lost. She doesn’t have a plan for the future or even next week and somehow manages to help almost every person she comes contact with.

  3. Step 3

Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel in Gilmore Girls running 2000 to 2007) Rory is the only child to Lorelei Gilmore. As mother’s and daughters go they have an extremely close friendship that seems more like best friends. Rory is driven to get into an Ivy League school and leaves Star’s Hallow (the most adorable small town you could ever imagine – complete with a cast of wacky characters) high school and enrolls at Chilton, a private school half an hour away. The first few seasons Rory navigates Chilton while making one true friend, Paris Gellar. As time goes on she enters Yale, drops out, and re enrolls. She’s an amazing symbol of family unity, intelligence and those who talk as fast as Speedy Gonzales runs.

  4. Step 4

Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars Running 2004 to 2007) In my opinion Veronica Mars is the best written female teenager to come along in a while. She’s smart, witty and sassy. Living alone with her father, a private detective and former sheriff she uses her investigative skills to help out friends and make some extra dough. The banter on the show is fast and incredibly smart and Kristen Bell does an excellent job delivering it. Overall the only way she could be a better influence is if she did a little less breaking and entering in the line of duty.
