Step 1
First use a gun that fits you. If you are a beginning gun owner chose a gun that feels comfortable, not too heavy or awkward. Make sure the ammunition used is the best for accuracy as well. Too powerful a charge will affect your shot.
-
Step 2
Aim slowly and hold the gun steady. Take a god breath and hold it. Let your breath out and fire when you have let about half your breath out. Pull the trigger evenly and gently. Don't squeeze hard or jerk the trigger fast. A steady slow pull will increase accuracy.
-
Step 3
Use a rest if possible. In the field a fence or log or boulder to rest your gun on will steady your shot. A shooting sling is another good option for a rifle user when hunting. With a rifle make sure you have the butt firmly against your shoulder. With a pistol your best aim is with your arm fully extended. The hand you are not holding the gun in can steady your elbow.
-
Step 4
Practice. In a safe location like a shooting range or target practice location put in the time to get familiar with your gun and improve your aim.
