How to Cook Bratwurst on a Gas Grill

Things You'll Need
- White onion
- Cutting board
- Utility knife
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Frying pan
- Metal roasting pan
- Aluminum foil
- Tongs
- Platter
- Buns
- Condiments

Cut the white onion in half and then into thin slices, separating the individual rings. Place the onion slices in the frying pan and drizzle olive oil over the top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Fry the onions over medium heat for several minutes until they are warm and slightly translucent. Transfer the onions to the metal roasting pan.

Add the raw bratwursts on top of the sliced onions in the roasting pan. Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil and seal the foil tightly.

Preheat the grill on high for five minutes, and then turn the heat down to medium.

Place the roasting pan directly onto the grill and cook for approximately 15 minutes. Remove the pan and open the aluminum foil.

Remove the bratwursts and place them directly onto the grill. Grill them only long enough to brown them. Remove the bratwursts and place them onto the serving platter.

Return the roasting pan to the grill and cook the onions for several more minutes, if desired. Remove the roasting pan when the onions are browned sufficiently.

Serve the bratwurst on buns with the cooked onions and other condiments.
